Dr. Ray Ammons Ray became the pastor of First Baptist in June, 2005. His previous pastorate included Mt. Pisgah Baptist in Fayetteville, N.C. , Bakersville Baptist in N.C. and Corn Creek Baptist in Milton, KY. He and his wife Cathy have two daughters, Rachel and Allyson. Daniel J. Wynkoop Director of Music Dan became the Director of Music in January of 2009. Previously, he was the Director of Children’s Music Ministries at First Presbyterian Church of Gastonia, and Shiloh Presbyterian Church in St. Marys, Pennsylvania. Dan has taught middle and high school choral music at Gaston Day School in Gastonia since 1996, and has been the Artistic Director of the Gaston Choral Society since 2001. He attended Penn State where he earned a B.S. Music Education, and will complete his Masters degree in Choral Music Education from Florida State University in the summer of 2009. His desire is to create a vibrant, musical worship experience at First Baptist Church by nurturing and growing individuals and ensembles in their artistic abilities through Christ. Cathy Holland Cathy started working at First Baptist in November of 2006. She has been working with youth for over 25 years. Her desire is to provide an environment for young people to grow in their knowledge of the scriptures and in their relationship with the Lord. She is married to Andy Holland. JoLynn Prochaska Minister to Children & Families JoLynn came to First Baptist in the fall of 2006. She grew up in Myrtle Beach, SC, and then attended Winthrop University for her undergraduate degree in Education. JoLynn taught at both the elementary and middle school levels before attending Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Alice M. Foy Alice has served First Baptist Church faithfully for twenty-five years as Financial Secretary and the last five years as Administrative/Financial Assistant. Alice is native of Clover, SC and has lived in Gastonia for forty-two years. She and her husband Clyde are the parents of Robbie and Tracy and the grandparents of Elizabeth and Rebecca.
