GRADUATE HIGHLIGHT
Heather Medlin
Heather is graduating from Ashbrook High School. At Ashbrook she has been involved in Varsity swimming (She was the team captain. She was also the MVP in 10th, 11th and 12th grades), Varsity cross-country, Young Republicans, Interact Club, Special Olympics volunteer, National Honor Society, Environmental Club and Beta Club. Heather was accepted into Governor's School and of that experience Heather writes, "This past summer I had the opportunity to attend the Governor's School of North Carolina. I met some of the coolest people I've ever known and had a great time. I learned so much and it was a great experience."
At church Heather has been involved in the Toronto and Chicago mission trips. She attended Unidiversity 2005 and DiscipleNow 2007. She is active in the youth choir and Adult hand bells. She also attended the CBFNC Youth Choir Festival with the youth choir. When asked what a relationship with Christ has meant to her during these years in school Heather replied, "Especially during high school, I have been faced with many choices regarding my actions and behavior. At times it has been difficult, but I have continued to remind myself of Matthew 7:13-14 that says, 'The road to destruction is broad...and many choose the easy way. But the gateway to life is small, and the road is narrow, and only a few ever find it.' Christ's presence in my life has given men the strength to continue on the narrow way and live my life in honor of God rather than the world."
Heather will be attending the University of Virginia where she will be majoring in Architechture.
